Integrating
Knowledge is mechanical, meaning is alive.
Knowledge is mechanical, seeking accuracy, retrieval, and transmission. Meaning is living and looks to grow, adapt, and move. Knowledge remains anecdotal (cannot be integrated) without its meaning. For knowledge to move from a single-use tool to a living source of value, we must examine its framing. Knowledge is only as useful as what it means.
Meaning mustn’t be confused with function. Meaning is a living stream of utility, while function is a single product from that stream.
When we ask, ‘What does it mean?’ We often ask how this will help this present situation. We should ask, ‘What does it do?’ Meaning is living and developing, while function is a temporary solution to a temporary problem.
Knowledge is the product of ways of thinking. To integrate knowledge, we should seek the frame that leads to it. We integrate frames and can only memorize knowledge.
