Kevin Kelly’s Substack is filled with life lessons and valuable notes. I discovered this particular one via Dave Gray, on Notes.

I recommend it for anyone considering writing a book.

I attempted to write a book about AI and human augmentation 8 years ago, and even made it to Mallorca for the Storia writers’ retreat. I had been in conversations with agents and went through different iterations of a proposal, but ultimately, and coinciding with my shift to coaching from corporate innovation, I voted on a book in process —a self-published iBooks (written and published in Pages) — where I add to and revise chapters.

Everything I Know about Self-Publishing
In my professional life, I’ve had several bestselling books published by New York publishers, as well as many other titles that sold modestly. I have also self-published a bunch of books, including one bestseller on Amazon and two massive hit Kickstarter-funded books. I have had lots of foreign edition books released by other publishers around the world…
